postheadericon Escape the winter and head for Puerto Rico!

One of the huge attractions of heading off to vacation to the Caribbean is that it suggests that we will be able to escape the winter weather in return for almost guaranteed sun, living in a tropical nirvana, cosseting ourselves while we disconnect from home, the office and whatever other stresses we leave behind.

And since no passport is needed to travel there thanks to its United States Commonwealth status, Puerto Rico vacations are ideal for US people. That means you can hop on an aircraft and in no time you will have escaped the snows in return for white sand beaches and clear tropical waters full of exotic fish.

While many individuals visit Puerto Rico as they stop off in San Juan on board a cruise liner, San Juan is also the Caribbean's busiest airport and acts as a hub to several other islands in the Caribbean and South America. Nevertheless why board a continual jet when you will find all you need in Puerto Rico itself?

With a short transfer from the airfield, you will soon be checking into your hotel and forgetting all of the strains you left at home behind you.

Pull up and chair in the Tiki bar in your Puerto Rico all-inclusive resort, order an interesting Caribbean cocktail and enjoy the impressive sea view as you are feeling yourself unwind.

Find it tough to actually let go? Then head for the spa where you can spend a few hours in pure unadorned luxury and cosseting yourself. You know you're worthwhile.

Make sure you try out some of the local specialities on offer when you are there. And while they won't be to your taste, you'll find a good selection of world cuisine to choose between, meaning you'll never starve. Nor will even the most fussy member of your family, who you can't please.

Spending the days on the beach or poolside has the light hours sorted - and if you're feeling actually dynamic then hotels such as Rio Mar Beach Resort boast golf courses too - but after watching the glorious sunset over the ocean you can head for the casino and play the slots; try your hand on the roulette wheel; or show your card skills at the 21 or poker tables.
